Everywhere we look, we see signs that things aren’t the way they’re supposed to be. War, injustice, loneliness, and pain mark the lives of so many, and even in the places that seem most full of promise—like a college campus—there’s a deep sense of lostness. The brokenness of our world isn’t just out there; it lives in us too. Sin has left every heart longing for healing, for meaning, for a way back to the life we were created for.
God didn’t leave us stuck in the darkness. He entered into it through His Son, Jesus—who lived the life we couldn’t, died the death we deserved, and rose again to make a way back to God. This is the hope of the gospel. Through Jesus, the wounds of this world can be healed, and hearts can be made whole. But in order for people to experience this life-changing grace, they need to hear the gospel. Romans 10 reminds us: how can people believe if they’ve never heard? How can they hear unless someone tells them? The world needs Jesus—and it needs messengers to carry His name.
If we’re going to reach the world with the gospel, college students are the strategic answer. They are future leaders, teachers, parents, and neighbors. But more than that—they’re ready now. They are in a season of deep searching, shaping their values, and preparing for a lifetime of influence. When college students meet Jesus and surrender their lives to Him, they don’t just find purpose—they become powerful witnesses, taking the gospel to their dorms, their families, their future workplaces, and even the nations. These years of searching and shaping aren’t just a personal journey—they’re a launching pad. College students can and must be sent now, across their campuses and into the world, as bold ambassadors for Christ.
So often, it’s not opportunity that’s missing—it’s clarity, conviction, and courage. The enemy works hard to distract, deceive, and discourage students from saying yes to Jesus with their whole lives. The spiritual battle on college campuses is real, and it’s fierce. Students are searching for truth in a world full of noise, and many are missing the invitation to follow Jesus with their whole lives simply because no one has walked with them, discipled them, or shown them that surrender to Christ is not a loss—but the beginning of real life.
I know firsthand that college is a uniquely challenging and uniquely pivotal time in a person's life. I've seen the challenges that students are facing - that I faced myself - and I've seen God work in the midst of that to redeem hearts and change lives. This has given me a passion to be a part of God's mission in the lives of young people through Cru's Campus Ministry. I am serving with the team at Oklahoma State University, sharing the gospel with students, building them up in their faith, and sending them to share the good news of Christ with others. Thank you for praying with me and for your financial support which enables me to make the Cru movement at Oklahoma State one where the gospel captures hearts, transforms lives, and launches men and women into lifelong multiplying discipleship to Jesus!
