Who am I?

For those of you who may not be familiar with me, my name is Jeremy Gay and  I am from Millen, GA.  While attending high school, I was a two-sport athlete playing baseball and basketball, but I grew to love baseball more and eventually was very blessed with the opportunity to continue my education and play baseball at Georgia Southern University. Little did I know that God was not exclusively using my time as a student-athlete to become a better baseball player, but also to challenge my worldview and draw me near to Him. I believe I received salvation from Christ at the young age of 8 years old and was baptized, but it was not until I got involved with this campus ministry, Athletes in Action, that I began to seriously grow in my faith and understanding of who God is and what he desires of me. This organization would go on to teach me what true Christianity was through discipleship and team Bible studies, all while consistently encouraging me to be involved in the local church. After two years of being plugged in with this ministry while being equipped to lead my own discipleship groups, my baseball career moved me to a different school after a sickness in the spring of 2022. I transferred to a junior college and eventually began leading my own small groups and team Bible studies. After suffering an injury in the spring of 2023, I decided to step away from baseball and pursue a ministry opportunity back on the campus of Georgia Southern, working with the organization that faithfully discipled me. Fast forward to today, I have graduated from GSU, and I am now working full-time with Athletes in Action at Georgia Southern alongside my beautiful fiancé, Holland, who is also full-time staff serving the female athletes.

Who are we?
We exist to fill the gap between the local church and college athletics. Georgia Southern AIA is an athlete-based ministry that is meant to lead athletes to turn all the glory to God and learn to worship Him in their sport. Through discipleship, community, and outreach, the ministry focuses on building meaningful and impactful relationships with student-athletes. The ultimate goal is to see people’s lives changed by the grace of God so much that they desire to do the same for others. On top of our ultimate goal of winning athletes to Christ and discipleship, we also facilitate character development meetings among the teams.

Our vision: To see a day when there are Christ followers on every team, in every sport, in every nation.

Our Mission: Making disciples who make disciples.

2 Timothy 2:2

Matthew 28:18-20

Our Model:  To achieve our mission, my fellow Athletes in Action staff and I work to build a spiritual movement within the GSU athletic department. We believe this spiritual movement occurs when God works through a team of like-hearted people to:

WIN  others to Himself (evangelism)

BUILD  them up in their faith (discipleship)

SEND  them out to do the same (multiplication)

What I do: Specifically, I work mainly alongside the Georgia Southern baseball team. I lead small groups, team Bible studies, pre-game devotions, plan/host team events, hang out with the team at practices/games, and build up a group of student leaders for them to do the same. I also work alongside the rest of our staff to plan/host campus events, mission trips, our annual banquet, end-of-year celebrations, game nights, etc.

My Request: We invite others to partner with us to reach people for Christ at Georgia Southern. Our prayer is to see God raise up athletes and coaches whose life mission is to know and walk with Christ, live in genuine Christian community, and expose the unbelievers they are around every day to Christ. We believe this is possible when organizations and individuals who want every athlete to know someone who truly follows Jesus, work together toward the common goal of furthering God's kingdom.

Just like many other mission organizations, myself and other Athletes in Action staff depend on the consistent prayer and financial support of concerned individuals & organizations. We are all fully supported by monthly, annual, and one-time financial gifts from family, friends, churches, and other people/organizations who see the need for Christ to be proclaimed within GSU athletics. Will you prayerfully consider investing in this outreach to Georgia Southern University athletes by partnering with us through a financial gift?  You can do this by specifically partnering with me by committing to a monthly donation of $100 each month or some other significant amount for you. One-time donations are also appreciated and needed.

Contributions are made to individual staff members through Campus Crusade for Christ and are tax-deductible.
