Hello! My name is Adam Wierenga. My wife Jacalyn and I are planning to return as second-year interns at Illinois State University this fall! Our vision is to seek out young men and women who are longing for community in college and invite them into Gospel-Centered community within our Cru Organization. We had a blast working for Cru this past year making the name of Jesus Christ known to college students, and we are ecstatic about the opportunity to continue in this important work!

Before college, I had little idea of what genuine community looked like. I believed I had to prove my worth through personal achievements to be accepted, hoping it would make me feel like I belonged. That changed at the start of my sophomore year at ISU, when two Cru staff members intentionally reached out and met with me. Through this meeting, I was confronted with the fullness of the Gospel I had heard before but never truly understood: Jesus doesn't wait for us to prove our worth because we can't. Instead, he lovingly invites us into a relationship with him, not because of who we are or what we've done, but because of who he is and what he accomplished through his life, death, and resurrection. Jesus made a way for us to be united with him. Not by merit, but by grace.

Our hope as we return to campus in the fall is that the Lord would provide students who desire to belong in Gospel-Centered community and that He would equip us to share with them and build them up in these crucial Gospel truths. Additionally, Jacalyn and I are asking the Lord to raise up a team of ministry partners to join us through prayer and financial giving in order to make our ministry possible.
