Jayden Boyle

#1309487

Hi, my name is Jayden Boyle and I am choosing to Intern with Cru at Boise State. Growing up I was blessed in a way I didn't understand by a family that took me to church and made God and Jesus a part of my life from a young age. This however took me a long time to decide that their faith was something that I wanted as well. A big part of this was Christians giving me amazing opportunities to serve and love his people and to be loved. A big part of this was camps, the summer before my senior year of high school was where I truly met the love, strength and grace of Jesus in a camp in Eastern Washington and working at a Camp called Cedar Springs helped turn my faith into action. It exposed me to intentional ministry and the Lord took that and showed me how fulfilling and simply good it is by using me to reach kids with the gospel. He also showed me what it looks like to truly be in Christian community and that's something I have never let go off ever since.

Continuing into my senior year of high school I was involved heavily in my church in Washington and the Lord continued to show me the need and goodness of community and making a space for others to enter into that. I was heavily involved in youth groups and continued to truly live out the Christian faith. Leading into my first year after high school I was a youth leader and found ways to start pouring out into those younger than me in a way leading to what I would be exposed to in college. The Lord also tested my Faith by leading me to go live somewhere else besides Washington and go to Boise State University in Idaho. I knew college was going to be a difficult time and now realizing that 80% of believers fall out of Faith in college my worries were correct. I knew I needed Christian community that was focused on biblical truth and had a statement of faith that aligned with my own, which ended up being Cru.

College is a time that means so many different things to so many people. It is a time of immense highs, lows and many chances to grow and find out who you may want to be for the rest of your life. Leaving my home for the first time I started my journey to Boise State where the Lord would show me what it looked like to trust in him for everything and how essential discipleship is to the Christian Faith. In College you've got a lot on your plate, it is possibly the first time that students have the opportunity to make big decisions on their own, daily. This leads to many different things trying to capture your attention, many of which are worldly distractions. You can either choose to walk in Faith and truth or give yourself over to worldly things that take more than they give. For me I was blessed with a discipler in Cru from the beginning that pursued me and directed me always back to Christ to his love, forgiveness and desire for constant real relationship rid of any fake distractions or temporary things. It was through Cru and Christ using it that kept me in line with him when so many stories have a much somber ending.

And this is why I am on staff with Cru.  The Great Commission weighs heavy on my heart as I long make it reality by walking alongside men to help them find peace and joy in The Lord and be able to do that for others. College can be such a lonely and confusing time for men and I feel called to help walk alongside young men through the hills and valleys of walking with Christ. The Lord has used discipleship to make me who I am and I desire to do the best I can and keep that going for others.
