This summer I have the opportunity to participate in a Summer Mission with Cru in Zagreb, Croatia. For five weeks I will be living in the city of Zagreb with other staff and students from across the country. We will be growing in our personal faith through times in prayer together, group Bible study, and personal time with God and reaching out to college students like us at the University of Zagreb, home to over 70,000 college students.

Croatia is a proud country, formerly part of Yugoslavia. As a result of the conflict that existed there in the 90s, Croats still experience economic struggle and a corrupt government. Because of this, most people have a bleak outlook on life. Students are frequently told by their professors that they should plan on leaving the country after graduation if they want to find a job. Cru in Croatia (FOKUS) prays that God would transform students through the Gospel so that society as a whole in Croatia would change for the better.

Most of the country is culturally Catholic, meaning to be Croatian is to be Catholic. But, most don't know what it means to have a personal relationship with God. We are praying that God would give us opportunities to build relationships with college students in Zagreb, share stories about our experiences, and talk together about spiritual things. Our vision is that the LORD will build a movement that is passionate about Jesus. This movement will first reach Zagreb and eventually send national laborers to other cities with the goal of impacting the entire country.

I am excited about trusting God to use me and our team to give young people in Zagreb an opportunity to know that a relationship with God is possible. Additionally, I will be mentored and challenged to grow in my own walk with God and in my leadership potential. The total cost for this Summer Mission is $5,650 which will cover our housing, transportation, meals and ministry expenses.
