Since transferring to Sac State in August 2024, I have been involved in a campus organization called Cru (formerly called Campus Crusades for Christ). Through my involvement with Cru, I have been blessed with many opportunities to grow in my faith and serve others. I’ve been involved in a community of students that encouraged me in my walk with Christ as we studied God’s Word together and sought to live out our faith on campus by sharing the gospel with others. This past December, I went on a Vision Trip to Central Asia (one of the -stan countries) with Cru. It was here that I experienced missionary life for the first time. My team and I learned words and phrases, shared meals with locals, and heard stories from a few Christians in that country. Most importantly, we went out on the street and engaged in spiritual conversations with strangers and shared the gospel. I was reminded through the culture in Central Asia of practices that exist in Japan (put shoes away at the front door, low voice on public transport, bow as a greeting). Though I have never been to Japan, I took Japanese classes in high school, I have interacted with Japanese exchange students at my college, and I have a fondess for their food and pop culture. It would be a pleasure to go there to do ministry. As much as I love Japan, I recognize that they are lost. Japan has many comforts, yet they have one of the highest suicide rates, especially amongst young people. There is a strong desire for spiritual truth that Japan lacks. They need the love and peace of Christ.

It will be my mission, along with the rest of my team, to build relationships with college students in Japan. We will walk alongside them in order to share the gospel with them. We will be living in the city of Osaka for a total of 9 months. With your continued financial and prayer support we will be able to minister to Japan. Of 125 million people in Japan, less than 1% are Christian. It is my dream to bring Japan to 2% by 2040. The relationships that I build in this following year will be a healthy step in the right direction for this goal to be met.
