Naval Base Point Loma

#1385710

Naval Base Point Loma and its annexes support some of the Navy’s most critical—and least visible—missions. This installation is a hub for submarine operations, undersea warfare, intelligence, and advanced communications, playing a key role in maintaining security across the Pacific. It is also home to the "Surface Combat Sytems Training Command" (SCSTC); which sometimes is described as "Street to Fleet" training for new sailors fresh from boot camp to give them the specicialzed, hands-on training needed before they deploy to a warship.

    Key statistics:

    • ~22,000 military and civilian personnel
    • 65–70 tenant commands across the base and annexes
    • ~4–5 nuclear-powered fast-attack submarines homeported
    • Supports ~70 Pacific Fleet commands
    • 7 major installations consolidated into one base

Though much of its work happens out of sight, Point Loma is a backbone of modern naval power—where undersea, digital, and strategic operations quietly shape global security. In the midst of that pressure and isolation, religious ministry carries a clear and urgent calling: to bring the hope, truth, and love of the Gospel to those who need it most.

This ministry is not just about support—it’s about transformation. It meets sailors in real moments of need and points them to a lasting foundation of faith, purpose, and identity.

How ministry is making an eternal impact:

    • Sharing the Gospel, one life at a time
Through personal conversations, mentorship, and discipleship, sailors are invited to explore faith, ask honest questions, and encounter the message of Christ in a real and personal way.
    • Walking with sailors through every season
From pre-deployment uncertainty to the challenges of returning home, ministry teams offer prayer, guidance, and biblical encouragement rooted in truth and grace.
    • Creating spaces for faith to grow
Worship services, Bible studies, and small groups provide consistent opportunities for sailors to deepen their relationship with God and build Christ-centered community.
    • Being present where it matters most
Ministry happens in the workplace, on the waterfront, and in everyday moments—reaching those who may never step into a chapel but are open to a conversation that could change their lives.
    • Offering hope in the hardest moments
In times of crisis, loss, or personal struggle, the Gospel brings comfort, clarity, and the reminder that no one is beyond God’s reach.

Your support helps share the Gospel, disciple believers, and bring light into places that might otherwise remain in darkness.
