December Impact Report
God turned his life around!
When Kevin got to college, his life was all about his girlfriend and his old high school friends.
But then his girlfriend broke up with him - his high school friends all had their own new lives and pursuits -
Kevin plunged into all the mind-numbing activities he could find to bring solace to his broken heart ... and college campuses offer a lot of those: drinking, parties, drugs, immorality.
Thank God, Kevin went to a Cru Winter Conference - and he encountered Jesus!
Today he serves as a volunteer Cru missionary. He was elected president of his fraternity, and he uses his position to tell other students about Jesus. Kevin says:
"Cru helped make the most important things possible for me: passionate and meaningful work that benefits others."
Kevin's story shows what Cru is all about: reaching college students with the hope of Jesus Christ. Thank you for making it possible!
Desperately seeking happiness
Rita was desperate.
She was engulfed in loneliness, overwhelmed by anxiety. Her mood swings were overwhelming her.
Finally, frantic to escape the negativity treadmill, she tried Eastern mysticism: Buddhism, Zen, meditation, crystals, energy healing, and, finally, chakra healing.
"I knew God existed," Rita says today. "I think I was just purposely denying Him. Replacing the name of God with 'Universe' felt so much easier."
But God was reaching out to Rita. She was about to experience her last straw.
"The last straw was when I paid nearly $200 for an online chakra healing program that promised happiness, forever," she recalls. "I was alone in my room, putting all my hope into this program, and about to watch a live introductory seminar."
But as she watched the countdown to the first session on her screen, she suddenly heard something.
"Suddenly, so clearly, in my heart, I heard, 'You don't need this. Turn it off.' And I did."
Still, she wanted answers - so she went to Google, which led her to EveryStudent.com®, Cru's powerful online Q&A portal.
"Once I found it, I was stuck on it," Rita says. "I spent a couple of days on it. You write in such a friendly, approachable, and comprehensible way. Finally I could understand who Jesus is."
Her life would never be the same.
"I felt so invited by Him through your site to be in a relationship with Him," Rita remembers. "I prayed a prayer of salvation on my knees in my room after reading one of your articles, and I have been changing ever since. I am so thankful for getting to know Jesus and for the way I am changing/growing. Thank you for making Him understandable to begin with. I am loving my journey."
A personal word from
Executive Director, Shannon Compere
It's with a grateful heart that I am writing to you. Through your prayers and support of Cru, you are making a significant difference in the lives of students! Thank you!
I love this encouragement from 1 Corinthians 15:58, "…my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
After the challenges of 2020 and the ups and downs of 2021, it brings me great hope to know that our labor for the cause of King Jesus is not in vain. This means that your and my work will accomplish exactly what the Lord intends for it to accomplish.
The Lord is advancing His kingdom, and He is graciously using you and me to help make it happen as we reach out to tomorrow's leaders - the future pastors, teachers, politicians, spouses, and parents of our world.
You are helping shape those who will shape the world in the years to come, all through this timeless strategy of Win, Build, and Send. Thank you!
God has graciously given us amazing opportunities to share Jesus with students across the world - and you're a part of it through your generous support and prayers. Thank you!
Today your gift will help connect students to Jesus and support critical Cru outreaches on campuses and online.
Please prayerfully consider giving as the Lord leads to this wonderful opportunity!
