In many parts of the Sahel region of Africa, getting basic food staples is dangerous … and an all-day affair.

Each week villagers in this region must lug their bags of millet, corn or other grains to the nearest grinding center. Some grinding centers are as many as four miles away. This trek is dangerous, especially for women. Being attacked or robbed while making this journey is always a possibility.

With your gift today, you can help provide a grinding mill to a remote village. Each mill costs just $550. And spreads the good news of Jesus to those who have never heard the gospel.

When we place a new grinding mill in a village, villagers can safely mill their grain in the security of their own village. They no longer have to walk for miles to another mill.

In these villages, outsiders are looked upon with tremendous suspicion and are often unwelcome.

The grinding mills provide a reason for our staff to be in the village. When one of our staff begins helping the people grind their grain they are quickly accepted and become a trusted member of the community.

Grinding Grain, Spreading the gospel:

The grinding mills quickly become the village gathering place, where the church planters are able to openly share Jesus. It doesn’t take long before people learn the truth about Jesus.

One of our church planters explains how three women from the oppressive regional religion came to know Jesus because of the grinding mill—

“They used to pass through this village on their way to grind in the next village. They heard about the grinding machine in our village, and they came. While grinding, they blessed God and thanked me for bringing the machine. I then took the opportunity to share with them about Jesus Christ. All three committed to follow Jesus, and I continue following up with them as they come every week to grind their grain.”
