Reach College Freshmen with the Gospel

Today’s college freshmen are heading off to school for the first time after two years of global chaos, pandemic fears and lockdowns. They’re excited, but also unsure of what awaits them. They may have never been away from home before. They’re anxious, maybe a bit fearful and lost.
But you can help show them the way to Jesus!

Cru® Freshmen First outreaches connect with incoming freshmen through Freshman Survival Kits. The kits contain a Bible, water bottle, school supplies and invitations to Cru events. And a Freshman Survival Kit only costs $10.37.
Cru staff members and volunteers meet with freshmen through welcome events and booths at freshman orientations, showing lost and anxious students that they can find a spiritual home, lifelong friends and the hope of Jesus.
The first 30 days a freshman is at school is when there’s tremendous competition for their hearts. It’s a time when they’re uniquely open to receiving the good news.
One year, Bianca*, a freshman at a university in Kansas, walked by a Cru table in a high-traffic area on campus. Cru staff members talked with her. After getting to know Bianca more, our staff members invited Bianca to dinner to discuss her spiritual questions.
Throughout dinner Bianca was able to share her view of God and ask questions about her own spiritual journey. Cru staff members shared the gospel with Bianca and led her to Christ. Now, Bianca has a Christian community on campus and shares her faith with others.
One student at a college in Colorado shared just how lost they felt going to college. It wasn’t until connecting with Cru staff members that they heard the gospel:
“Coming into college, I was very lost. I knew I needed Christ, but I was scared I was too late to find a relationship with him. Hearing the gospel changed me, especially upon learning that the word gospel means good news — it allowed me to understand how the gospel changes everything.”
This is why Freshmen First outreaches are so important. But this critical window doesn’t stay open forever, and we want to use every opportunity for college students to know Jesus.
