Currently, there are over 120 million displaced people in the world. Most have been forced from their homes with little-to-no warning, leaving everything behind.
For people in situations like these, the gift of a simple blanket can make a significant difference. A blanket can provide warmth in dangerous winter temperatures. It can give a child who has lost everything a sense of security. For families in refugee camps, it can provide a clean place to eat their meals and a way to identify their personal area.
This year Unto plans to deliver $11.1 million worth of critical aid, including blankets, to suffering people in the toughest places. It costs just $7 to provide a blanket to someone facing displacement and poverty — and to share God’s love.
Our team member recently shared,
“A blanket represents the restoring dignity piece of what we do, because having a new blanket fulfills a desire that may not have been met otherwise. It also opens an opportunity for people to be in deeper connection with others by having a small space of their own where they can invite people to enjoy a meal with them. Then of course, blankets are still a vital part in providing warmth for families and children.”
