Reach Unreached People with "JESUS"

#2789555

Film teams are ready to use the equipment you place in their hands to lead unreached people to His endless hope. Tens of thousands of microSD cards are being requested. And thousands of video tablets are also needed for some of those 1,800 ministries. Moreover, your partnership will help support digital teams who are reaching people online (including video streaming) and through TV and radio broadcasts. This is how everyone, everywhere, can hear and understand the gospel in film—now available in more than 2,232 languages!

May I invite you to help reach people with “JESUS” so they can hear Him speak in their heart languages? As a key “JESUS” film leader in Asia just said of these many outreaches, “We are seeing God take people from a life with hopelessness, to a new life of endless hope!”

Listed below are several ways you can reach the unreached, how you can go into fields ready for harvest:

May God bless your partnership. May He give you joy, knowing that hundreds, perhaps thousands of people will meet Jesus and worship before His throne because of you. Thank you so much.

It’s amazing to witness the impact of your prayers and giving! Your support for Jesus Film Project® is multiplying the work of over 1,800 ministry partners who use “JESUS.”  Lives are being transformed for eternity. Thank you!

Here are some inspiring stories:

➤ Sasha is a young man who lives in Central Asia. He is from a clan of warriors, heroes in their culture. They are famed for defending their homeland, for protecting their religion—one that is hostile to Christians. Openly sharing the gospel here is very dangerous.

Fortunately, the internet is widely available. So, to overcome the resistance, trained “JESUS” film workers place social media ads, featuring short films. These films touch hearts, prompt curiosity and lead seekers to learn about Christ.

Sasha clicked on one of the ads and began watching film clips of “JESUS.” He was deeply affected.  Wanting to know more, he literally drove five hours to meet with the workers who had placed the ad. It was a group of young people led by a former Taliban fighter, who is now on staff with Cru®!

They shared with Sasha the gospel and the love of Jesus. He believed and invited Jesus into his heart! This young man experienced a great transformation, of which the apostle Paul wrote long ago: “For He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.”*

Sasha was eager to tell his whole family and clan the good news. But as leaders of the clan, they were embarrassed and appalled. In their culture, he had insulted them. Treating him as a traitor, they severely beat Sasha. Yet, he did not renounce his faith or betray his Lord. Remaining faithful to Christ, he went back to the group of young people who had introduced him to Jesus. Today, with their help, he is growing in his faith, determined to see his entire family delivered from the kingdom of darkness. Please pray for Sasha and his family. He is one of thousands who are finding Christ digitally on their phones.

I share Sasha’s story as an example of a great challenge before us. He is among 3.4 billion people who have not heard of Jesus or been introduced to the gospel. Most of these men, women and children live in closed nations, where Christians cannot share the good news openly. If we are to reach them all—everyone, everywhere—it will take every means available, including digital outreaches.

➤ God is also using your partnership to inspire spiritual curiosity in Africa.  A key “JESUS” film partner, Tariku, just shared two encouraging reports.

Tariku: “I was recently with our Global Church Movements’ leadership team in Gabon. They told of showing the ‘JESUS’ film on a video tablet to people who had never heard. Four people responded and believed. Those four went on to form a church, which in two years multiplied to 34 believers.

“I got to visit their church. As the people were gathering for a service, they were singing a song—broadcast to the village over loudspeakers. In French, [the worship leader sang] ‘Jesus, the King of Kings, let Him be praised.’ I was moved to tears because just two years ago, there were no believers. Instead, they worshipped the enemy. Today, they were worshipping Jesus, the King of Kings.

“I also learned about one of our teams in Guinea-Bissau. The moment they entered an unreached village they encountered spiritual warfare. The team met a girl who could not walk or speak. They prayed and the Lord miraculously healed her. That led to a showing of ‘JESUS,’ and the entire village, 400 people, believed. This is what God is doing.”

➤ Next, I’d like to tell you the story of Aida. She is a medical student in the West African nation of Senegal. It is home to 18 million people, 95% of whom follow a religion hostile to Christianity from the north. Interestingly, Senegal is considered the most digitally connected country in Africa.

Aida was searching for spiritual meaning online. She found the “JESUS” film ministry page on YouTube, where “JESUS” and several short films are easily viewable. She watched everything she could and, on her own, prayed to receive Christ. But she did not stop there.

Aida kept searching until she found that Jesus Film Project was part of Cru in Senegal. She then searched to find the leaders and made contact. When staff (there are only two in the entire country) learned how she came to Christ and the digital abilities she had used, they invited her to become their first digital volunteer. Aida agreed and travelled to Uganda, where she learned how to lead others to Christ through the internet—how to guide their searches and answer their questions. She is now introducing others to Christ through the internet, digitally. If everyone, everywhere, is to be reached, digital strategies are a must.

➤ Lastly, a Christian woman named Fusia lives in the African nation of Ghana, near Senegal. She attended training similar to Aida’s that was offered by a Jesus Film ministry partner, One Mission Society (OMS). There Fusia received a micro-SD card containing audio Bible stories in Ga, her heart language. She installed the card on her phone, an older model. Other trainees could view the “JESUS” film on their smartphones, but Fusia’s phone could only play the audio version (The Story of Jesus). So she let her family and friends listen. A number of people believed, including her closest friends, who are now part of her church. Again, using digital strategies is essential to reach everyone, everywhere.

A missionary with this same ministry partner (OMS) wrote about the great need for language translations: “It’s hard for English speakers to imagine the vast variety of languages and dialects spoken within a single African country. We thank God for the work of Bible translators who continue making God’s Word comprehensible for hundreds of people groups across the continent! Church planters and their young, digitally inclined assistants are trained to lead ‘discovery’ Bible studies. They follow a simple process developed by Jesus Film Project to make disciples and multiply groups and churches.

“Participants hear the Word played from the group leaders’ phones in their mother tongue. Next, through a guided discussion, they grow to understand it. Then, together, they make plans to apply the Word: hear, understand and bear fruit. It’s the way of discipleship.”

All I have shared is the fruit of your partnership—the work of the Holy Spirit. Your gifts are making a significant difference for ministries like OMS, just one of over 1,800 partners who use “JESUS.” Through training, resources like microSD cards, video tablets and digital evangelism, people once thought unreachable have become reachable. Entire families and whole villages are turning from pantheism, animism, Satan worship and spiritual darkness to the living God, to Jesus Christ. Again, it is your partnership that plays such a crucial role. It’s why I am so grateful for you.
