Today, you can let them meet the Lord of all who declared, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly.”4 This is the reason I invite you today to help reach them, to partner with workers and teams, and more than 1,800 ministry partners and organizations who use “JESUS” around the world. You can help deliver them from spiritual darkness and give their hearts hope, joy, forgiveness and life eternal.
The average cost for a day of ministry for one film team is just $42. They will show the film, follow up with new believers, plant churches where there are none, conduct Bible studies and more. It may be that you will feel led to sponsor two days of a film team’s ministry through a gift of $84, or for a week by sending $294.
Few of us have plentiful financial resources. But if you do, here are a few ways you can have an even greater impact. With a gift of $1,250 per month, you can underwrite a team’s ministry; a gift of $2,500 provides for two months of frontline evangelism, follow-up and church planting. And with a gift of $15,000, you can support a film team in the mission field for an entire year.
You can give a film team a “Lead Them to Christ” Projector Set for showings of up to 300 people for $2,790, or provide a team with a “Reaching Neighborhoods” Projector Pack for up to 50 viewers in a single showing for a gift of $1,205. Or you might consider sending a video tablet set with Bluetooth speaker for a gift of $610.
Challenge Grant: Equipping these teams is so important that a generous couple has given the first $55,000 as a Challenge Grant. They hope to inspire your own giving, inviting you to follow their lead so even more people can be reached. Please pray and give as you are led and enabled. Your gift of any amount will help launch teams—workers in the harvest—providing them with the effective tools they most need.
As we celebrate God’s greatest gift, the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, remember the billions of people who have yet to hear. Teams are ready to take them the good news through “JESUS.” As He leads, you may wish to send them the greatest miracle, the miracle of His love and Word that they can receive in their heart language. Thank you for your faithful partnership.
“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” 1 — Jesus
I want to tell you a story I just heard of a remarkable miracle.
Only God could have done this. As you are about to read, He is working through your prayers and kind giving so people can see, hear and receive the gospel for the first time through “JESUS.” I am grateful for you.
The miracle happened earlier this year in Asia, in a very difficult country. It was shared with us by a trustworthy ministry director who loves people and the Lord. A woman named Su Su2 had watched the gospel story on equipment you supplied. She believed and joined a small group to learn about her new faith.
Sadly, her 70-year-old mother-in-law, Thida, had stage 4 breast cancer and was declining rapidly. Now in crisis, her family took Thida to the hospital. Weak and struggling to breathe, the doctor would not let her in, “It’s too advanced, there is nothing we can do.”
That evening, while they were carrying Thida back to the village, she died. At first the superstitious elders would not let them bring a dead body into the village. Instead the family paid a fee to get permission. That night, Su Su was deeply troubled and refused to accept Thida’s death. She remembered in the film how Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.
Su Su knelt beside Thida’s lifeless body and prayed in simple faith, “Oh Lord, I've seen that you can raise people from the dead. I see that you're a powerful God, please make her alive again.” Su Su opened her eyes and waited for Jesus to act. Nothing happened. Only silence.
The next morning family and friends gathered for the funeral. Thida’s body lay in the coffin, lifeless and cold. Several people carried out witchcraft and chants, reflecting their spiritual darkness. But Su Su, knowing the power of Jesus, continued to pray. Then someone looked at the body and exclaimed, “She’s sweating, she’s sweating!” Shocked, one of the family reached hesitantly to wipe away the moisture.
Thida’s eyes shot open, and she began flailing her arms in all directions. The room erupted in screams of terror. People stumbled over one another trying to get away, “It’s a ghost! It’s a ghost!” But not Su Su. Tears streamed down her face as she cried out for everyone to hear, “Jesus has heard my prayer!”
Soon the shock was replaced by amazement. The family helped her sit up. Thida was breathing and talking, walking, alive. News spread: “This Jesus has the power to raise the dead!”
The village where Thida lives is distant and remote—we just learned that Thida lived for 30 more days and then died. God must have had a mission for Thida and her daughter-in-law Su Su. After witnessing a great miracle, people are usually eager to learn more about this powerful God-man, Jesus. They watch the gospel story in their heart language, witness Jesus give life to Lazarus and believe. Churches are born, even in the toughest of areas.
Another miracle—this report comes from India!
A man I will call Charlie was deeply entrenched in idol worship, along with his family. Like Thida and Su Su, they were steeped in superstition and witchcraft—trapped in darkness.
Suddenly, they lost their 3-year-old son to death. Without hope of the gospel, “their grief was unbearable” (as described by the ministry partner who shared this report). Then their oldest son became very ill with a severe case of jaundice. They tried everything they knew to save him: rituals, sacrifices, witchcraft. Nothing helped. Their son was on the brink of death.
Thankfully, this ministry partner had sent one of their film teams (that you help support and equip) to Charlie’s neighboring village. He met with the team member who shared the Word of God and showed him and his family the film “JESUS.” They all believed, renounced their idolatry and began worshiping Jesus, the One true God.
Then the Lord fully healed their son—who is soon to be baptized. Where the darkness is the greatest, God breaks through with His Word and power. People see the gospel through “JESUS,” believe and are transformed for eternity. Again, this is the result of your partnership. As Paul the Apostle wrote, “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”3
One more miracle!
This happened in a very rough slum in Southeast Asia, where addictions grip entire families. A film team came to show “JESUS” in a small home. Outside, children and adults bought and sold drugs as many do. But inside, the people saw and heard about the hope of forgiveness for the first time in their lives.
The people understood the Word of God in their heart language, and the atmosphere changed. During the scene where Jesus forgives the woman caught in adultery, a mother buried her face in her hands. A father watched the depiction of Jesus healing a blind man and whispered, “Could He heal me, too?”
The film concluded, and one by one, people asked for prayer. A young man struggling with addiction stood trembling and said, “I don’t want this life anymore.” That night the Holy Spirit broke chains of bondage as people decided to follow Christ, surrendering their old lives and beginning new lives with Him. Now, instead of meeting to sell and use drugs, new believers are meeting to learn all they can about the Jesus who delivered them from spiritual darkness, gave them redemption, the forgiveness of sin.
It’s reports like these that cause us to give praise to our wonderful Lord and thanks for you and your partnership. Your prayers and kind giving make this global ministry of evangelism and church planting possible. The fruit of your partnership will echo through all eternity.
As you may have read, those who study missions and church growth believe that more than 3 billion people are considered unreached. Many of these are trapped in addiction, witchcraft and idolatry. They know something is missing, like the young man who said, “I don’t want this life anymore.” As the Lord leads, you can let them meet Jesus.
