As you may already know, Jesus Film Project® is all about partnerships. At least 1,800 ministry partners are using Jesus Film® media and other digital tools, many as a key method of evangelism and church planting. A number of these ministries rely on Jesus Film Project to help equip and train their teams and workers—often in difficult-to-reach nations or regions considered closed to the gospel.
Others are helping to broadcast “JESUS” on television or radio through online evangelism and streaming (as on Facebook). Many teams are using the Jesus Film Project app. And others are reaching people through film showings on tablets, projector sets, NewLifeBoxes and microSD cards.
You’ll see tools by which you can shine the light of the gospel in places where the name of Jesus has never been heard. For instance, you might consider a gift of $66 to equip a worker with six microSD cards, preloaded with “JESUS,” other Jesus Film media and follow-up materials. Perfect for hard-to-reach areas, they can be passed from person to person. Please consider a gift of microSD cards; they are in great demand for following up and discipling new believers.
Should you have the resources, your gift today of $610 will supply an 11-inch video tablet with a wireless Bluetooth speaker to reach small groups. Each tablet is preloaded with “JESUS,” follow-up films and more.
Or you might be led to help broadcast “JESUS” this Easter when unreached people are curious about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. You can deliver the gospel directly into homes of people who might not hear in any other way. Based on reporting from last Easter, your gift of $250 can help broadcast “JESUS” into the homes of up to 32,500 people. Your gift of $1,000 will do the same for up to 130,000 people.
Millions are waiting to meet the living God, Jesus our Lord, who died and rose to give them eternal life. This is how everyone, everywhere, can be reached: digitally and through partnerships. Thank you for your gracious gifts and prayers that are making a difference in transforming souls for eternity. To Him goes the glory.
Your partnership is the heartbeat of this ministry, truly making a difference for eternity! Unreached people the world over are meeting Jesus and hearing Him speak for the first time through “JESUS.” Thank you!
It’s why I always enjoy passing along reports, especially of whole villages and households coming to faith. But today I want to tell you about what happens when people encounter the gospel personally, one at a time through “JESUS.” Let me first tell you about Karim*.
Karim is a young man from a North African country. Growing up, he learned of his god through the eyes of his country’s dominant religion. But like so many young people today, he began to have doubts. When he read his holy book, he could not find answers to his questions. Finally, he gave up and became an atheist.
Yet, Karim kept sensing an inner voice, a call, to read the Gospels. But living where he did, finding a Bible was difficult. After searching, he finally found one at a public library.
Reading the Bible for the first time, the words before him came alive. He learned about Jesus, that He is the Savior. Karim wanted to learn more. Like millions of young people, he turned to the internet. There he found the film “JESUS.”
Karim was deeply moved by the Sermon on the Mount. His culture and religion taught violence against unbelievers. But this Jesus taught that he should love his enemies. Karim said the words of Jesus were “… extraordinary, unlike anything I have ever encountered.”
The film “JESUS” came to the crucifixion scene. As Karim watched online, the Holy Spirit spoke to his heart that all he was seeing and hearing was the truth. Karim began to feel another calling, a strong desire to pray and invite God into his life. He remembered the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus taught His disciples, and he began to pray it daily, finally experiencing something he had never known—the peace of Christ.
Next, Karim connected with another library—a Christian library run by Cru®. They gave him a copy of “The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict” by Josh McDowell. Karim learned more and continued to grow in his new faith and the knowledge of God.
But sadly, this young man paid a price. He experienced persecution and fled to Lebanon as a refugee. But God was calling him again. In Lebanon, Karim joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and enrolled in their Discipleship Training School. Recently, a staff worker with Jesus Film Project met Karim at a pastors’ conference, where he heard Karim’s story.
That worker told Karim about NewLifeBox devices that set up Wi-Fi-like hotspots. Up to 15 people at a time can watch “JESUS” on their phones. The worker said that Karim was thrilled to receive a NewLifeBox (that you provided!). He said Karim is eagerly sharing his faith, telling others about the gospel and how God used the film “JESUS” to transform his life.
The next person I want to tell you about is a woman I will call Wamgai. She is a cook at a school in Kenya who labors in a kitchen—one that utilizes local methods and resources (very different from what most of us in the West use). A team from Life Ministry Kenya came to the school to show students the “The Story of Jesus for Children.” This is a wonderful version of “JESUS” that features children who lived at the same time as Jesus. The film explains the gospel to the children who watch and then invites them to follow Him.
The team set up their portable projector and screen. Wamgai walked past the classroom and saw how the students were completely absorbed in the film. She wanted to watch but duty called. It was time to make tea for the teachers.
The film team saw her conflict. They set up a video tablet in her kitchen so she could watch “JESUS” as she worked. By God’s grace, the video tablet had the film in Wamgai’s heart language.
The team described what happened. She was “… completely captivated, experiencing Jesus in the language that lived in her heart—the words that shaped her childhood, carried her deepest emotions and spoke to her soul.” She was made new.
The team also reported: “But something even more beautiful was happening at the school that day— 67 students in her school made decisions to follow Christ.” To God goes the glory as He calls each person to Himself. Again, thank you for the crucial part you play.
Many mission leaders believe that if everyone in the world is to be reached (3.4 billion have yet to hear and understand the gospel), it will have to be done digitally—through smartphones, video tablets, internet evangelism, broadcasting and video streaming. With digital outreaches in mind, here are highlights from another report we received—of an extremely poor, remote people group, the Bara of Madagascar.
“The youth have started using Facebook. Even in remote mountain villages, you can now find young Bara men and women with smartphones, scrolling through Facebook. In Betroka, for example, about 90% of the youth are on Facebook, and there are even Facebook pages dedicated to Betroka and the Bara people.
“The hearts and eyes of this new generation are already turned toward the digital world. … We launched a new initiative … aimed at reaching the youth of the Bara people through videos that speak directly to them—videos about Jesus Christ, salvation, repentance and powerful testimonies. These videos also accompany our projector-based outreach efforts in villages, amplifying our in-person evangelism with a growing digital presence. The Bara youth are on social media. We will be there, too—proclaiming that Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior.”
