In Chicago far too many people are familiar with the hopelessness of poverty. People feel stuck and hopeless.Those wrestling with poverty don't simply lack resources. They need OPTIONS that offer hope and transformation.
That's where Cru Inner City comes in. That's where the CHURCH comes in. That's where YOU come in. TOGETHER we have been creating options for those struggling with poverty that meet real needs and connect people to Jesus Christ for 44 years.
As 2024 comes to close, we invite you to sponsor teens involved in the teen ministry at Cru Inner City's Agape Center on the city's far south side. Teenagers get a bad rap in Chicago - lazy ... disrespectful. .. troublemakers. But we know that teenagers will become tomorrow's leaders! That's why the teen ministry at Cru's Agape Center intentionally focuses on developing young people into godly leaders.
We start by creating a safe, supportive space where teens experience loving community. Next, teens eagerly and faithfully attend the Agape Center's weekly teen Bible study, where they discover the good news about Jesus alongside our staff and volunteers. We also strive to pair up teens with caring, one-on-one disciplers, who consistently guide them through the ups and downs of growing up.
Finally, our teen summer jobs program prepares youth to become godly leaders. Teens get weekly training on job and life skills - everything from leaving a voicemail message to job interviews to money management. Teens also learn to build up their community by working for service organizations like food pantries, community gardens, and even the police district.
Naturally, it takes financial resources to make everything we've described a reality. $2,000 will sponsor a teenager for one year of our Agape Center program. $38.46 sponsors a teen for one week.
