We are building the next generation of Chrsitian leaders by reaching student-athletes in New Mexico with the gospel and building them in their faith. Come and be a part of the work that God is doing on campus! Here is what a few student-athletes are saying about their involvement in our ministry:
"As a cross country runner and someone who is avidly involved in physics, it was easy to find my identity in other things like performance on the course/track and in the classroom. I would overload myself with school, research, work, and running to prove that I was strong and resilient all on my own. After years of being knocked down so many times with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and other personal issues it became apparent, time and time again, that I cannot do everything on my own and that I am in desperate need of a savior. Trevor and the AIA group helped me to see this." -Sam / Albuquerque NM / XC - T&F
"There is temptation all around us; we need time to get together to study God's word, and Athletes in Action has given us the resources to make that happen." -Evah / Phoenix, AZ / Football
"The first semester of college was hard to juggle. From our practice schedule and traveling for games, to the course load, and even hard conversation with professors explaining why you have to miss so many classes. Not many people understand or sympathize with this side of things when you're a student athlete. It was difficult and I was really missing my home (Denver area) and having a community of believers to learn and grow with. Once I started going to Athletes In Action, my whole semester started to turn around. There was a group of people who didn't know me, but welcomed me while digging deeper into God's word. They understood what I was going through. I'm so thankful for them and the impact they had on my life this year." -Aspen / Littleton, CO / Women's Soccer
"Athletes in Action (AIA) has not only allowed me to grow as a Christian but AIA pushed me to grow as a Christian. Before being involved in AIA, I was walking a life without truly having a relationship with God. Yes, I had grown up in the church and had many religious experiences, but I could not say I knew exactly who God was. Living my life without a relationship with God caused me to find my identity within my sport. As a result, my life was full of emptiness because sport never fully satisfies. There is always more to chase and insecurities to hide as an athlete. Having that void in my life led me to search for solutions in all different ways. This is what brought me to refocus on my faith in God and find Athletes in Action. AIA has been a blessing for me because growing in faith with other athletes has given me a chance to be a part of a Christian community. A community that cares for me and sees me for more than just an athlete. Having this has helped me live a more happy and fulfilling life. I am so grateful to have met Trevor Riggs and have him as someone who leads and supports me in my faith and life. AIA has given so much to me and without it I believe I would still be searching for the answer to my emptiness." -Jake / Twin Cities / Tennis
