Anibal and Sonia Duarte has served with Campus Crusade for Christ for 45 years. He first joined at the age of 17, upon graduation from high school. Since then, he has earned several degrees in journalism, theology and leadership, by studying at night and weekends. He has been married almost 35 years to his wife, Sonia who is a profesor.

Sonia joined at he age of 18, as a National Director Secretary, and few year later she became a full time staff. Today, Sonia lead the Women Ministries in Guatemala, she is working with Mother Wise, Restore my Heart, Magdalena, Reflections of Hope, Significant Woman, and others.

They have three children; Ana Sofia, she is  Chemistry and Biology ; Javier Francisco, he is Doctor and Surgeon, he is married with Melissa who is a doctor  too and they have a little girl Elizabeth. Juan Fernando, who is Architect and is married with Alissa who is Grafic Designer. All the kids are involved in some ministry activities, involved on Jesus Film missionary projects, and others, Ana Sofia has been part of the leadership of the Campus Ministry.

Past Ministry Experience

Anibal served with Campus Ministry for his first two years on staff. Between 1979 and 1981, he leaded "I found It" campaigns on 18 cities. Since then, he was Director of Communications, Coordinator of Staff Development, and National Administrator. He and Sonia were appointed the National Director of Guatemala in 2000.

From 2000 to 2012 they was the National Directors in Guatemala, and development many projects to impact Guatemala, including working with Schools, planting churches, and relief. 

On 2012 by healthy reason Anibal needs step down from his leadership roles, and start a new project working at Ciudad Quetzal, a small town with 160000 people, 222 public and private schools, 1800 teachers, and 32  neighborhoods, God open doors to work with Schools. This year, on 2020, Sonia and Anibal have over 300,000 students studying the Bible on 7 different regions that involve 40 cities. 

Since August 2017 until December 2019 Sonia and Anibal has been appointed as Jesus Film Representatives for Latin America and the Caribbean. They traveled to different countries promoting the Jesus Film Resources and development trainers to expand the ministry. 

Present Ministry

Now they are return to Guatemala to continuous their ministry specially with the Ministry Education, they have open doors to share Bibles, to training Principals and Teachers with the Jesus Film APP, leading mission trips, teaching Reflections of Hope from Magdalena, and other things. Also Sonia is leading the CRU Guatemala Woman Ministry.
