You can help to equip, train, and supervise indigenous church-planting teams who plant multiplying, self-sustaining churches. The goal is to work in close partnership with the body of Christ to establish 5 million multiplying churches throughout the world by 2020.
Sadly, there are still vast regions of the world with no Christians, no Bibles, and no churches. Cru has always believed that the key to fulfilling the Great Commission lies in disciples of Christ spiritually multiplying their lives just as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19. In 2010, Cru launched a new ministry called Global Church Movements (GCM) to ensure new believers were becoming true followers of Christ in the context of multiplying churches. The desire is to see not only individuals multiplying their lives to grow the kingdom of God, but also churches and faith communities multiplying, too.
With over 5 billion people in the world still unreached by the gospel, GCM has joined forces with The JESUS Film Project, another ministry of Cru, and is passionately working together with numerous churches and mission agencies to trust God to establish a multiplying church in every neighborhood, village, and digital community, so that there is at least one church for every 1,000 people in the world.
The Multiplying Churches and Communities (MC²) process involves equipping church planters through four phases of church multiplication training, materials and tools such as the JESUS film and Bibles, regular coaching, and communication and reporting. Since no single organization can plant 5 million churches alone, this project is all about partnerships and collaboration. Consequently, GCM facilitated the creation of a worldwide network called the Global Alliance for Church Multiplication (GACX). This alliance of like-minded churches and mission organizations currently has 58 active members who are fully engaged and working together toward the objective to double the number of churches on earth by 2020.
