Send DVDs and Equipment to share "JESUS"

#2785090

Dear friend in Christ,

The day Jesus commanded a suicide bomber...

I wish I could divulge the location where it happened, but security is too tight. Lives would be endangered.

Lets just say you would be astonished!

The ministry director who shared this heard it directly from one of his key JESUS film team leaders. He wrote down everything, the complete account, and then asked me to be very cautious about what goes into print.

His film team had taken a courageous step, going into a village in a dangerous, mountainous area. They brought a DVD of JESUS, one of thousands you helped provide. The team gathered about 250 people into a community hall, plugged a small DVD player into a television already there, and closed the windows for secrecy. It was crowded and tight and the screen relatively small, but everyone stayed and watched the entire JESUS film.

When it came time for the team to give the invitation to receive Christ (another courageous act that could get them killed), a man sitting on the floor quickly stood. He opened his shirt and turned around so all could see.

Strapped to his chest were explosives...a vest with explosives. Panic set in...

"Wait...wait! Don't leave. I'm not going to blow myself up. I need to tell you what just happened." It took several minutes to convince the people to stay, and at last they did.

"I heard that you were going to show a blasphemous film. I went to my leaders, and they agreed you should die. I strapped on this bomb and came to kill you all.

"When the film started I reached for the detonator and tried to push the button, but as I watched the TV, Jesus turned and pointed right at me. He called my name and said loudly, 'Dont do that...follow Me.' He spoke in my own dialect.

"Over and over I tried. Every time I reached for the button He pointed to me and said, 'Dont do that...follow Me.' My hand froze every time. I couldnt move my thumb. I gave up and just stayed to watch.

"Now I believe. I want Jesus to be my Savior. Can you help me know more about Him?"

The team leader said, "Yes, of course, but first you must take off that vest!" The would-be suicide bomber went out from the building, far away, took it off, disarming the explosives. He returned and the team prayed for him--but thats not all.

Remember that this is an extremely dangerous area, one intensely hostile to Christianity. Anyone leaving their traditions can expect to be killed.

Yet the Word of God contained in the film JESUS spoke to the people. It was a powerful experience as they learned the truth of the gospel. Further, the people were amazed by this mans testimony. He was a radical who would stop at nothing. They knew they had just seen a miracle.

When the film team leader asked who wanted to receive Christ and pray, everyone did...all of them! The next day, the team held a service where 250 new believers were baptized in their new faith, including the man with the suicide vest!

How powerful is our God. How loving that He claimed a would-be suicide bomber as His own and everyone in that room the man had come to destroy.

I so enjoy hearing these accounts directly from ministry leaders of such high character and then telling them to you! These leaders are just as amazed--and they work in these areas! May God alone receive all the glory, honor and praise "...that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, so that you may fear the LORD your God forever"
(Joshua 4:24, New American Standard Bible).

One more thing struck me about what happened. God used just one DVD to redeem 250 lives for eternity! Perhaps it was a recent gift you sent for DVDs that helped make it possible!

I write today as teams working in these dangerous areas are eager for more DVDs--tens of thousands more--because they see the mighty hand of the Lord, often daily. They state fervently how this is the time to reach them, by proclaiming the truth through the power of the Word, heard in their own language, through JESUS.

Currently, leaders are asking for 1,000,000 DVDs. The majority of these requests come from restricted nations, many in the 10/40 window. In fact, teams are showing JESUS in areas thought to be unreachable just a decade or two ago. Not so now!

Because many of these requests are coming from dangerous, hard-to-reach places, I cant tell you how the DVDs are made available...again, for security. But, I can tell you the potential result of your gift.

The best field information we have indicates that up to 16 people can experience the power of JESUS through each DVD you provide. The number of people touched by the DVDs will vary depending on the country and situation.

Your gift of $100 today, therefore, could send 25 of these DVDs, potentially reaching up to 400 people. Your gift of $250 could make it possible for up to 992 people to at last see and hear the gospel in their heart language. A gift of $500 could help reach 2,000 people.

A fairly new way to deliver the JESUS film and other media tools or versions of the film is on thumb (flash) drives and SD cards (memory cards used in digital cameras). One thumb drive can hold five different films, and one SD card can hold up to ten unique translations or versions of JESUS. Moreover, thumb drives and memory cards are hard to detect or do not raise suspicion if found--ideally suited for truly dangerous areas. If this is a way you would like to help people see JESUS in the difficult places, then consider sending 18 thumb drives or eight SD cards, all containing JESUS, through a gift of $360. Hundreds are being requested for outreach in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

May I also suggest a gift of $1,075 for a complete Pocket Projector set with speakers, rechargeable batteries and case. These miniaturized versions of digital video projectors are used in small or underground churches, classrooms and homes. They can present the film to up to 50 people at a time, especially in remote towns and villages. Requests for Pocket Projector sets are coming in as teams find them wonderfully effective in the highly sensitive areas. Perhaps you are in a position where you could give for several Pocket Projector sets with a gift of $3,225 or $5,375. Whatever you can do, it will make an important difference in advancing the gospel.

I invite you to consider one of these several options so that searching and open people might see and hear the gospel in their own language, most for the first time in their lives-even terrorists. As you do, remember this wonderful verse from Daniel 12:3 (NASB):

"Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever."

Thank you for letting God use you. May the Holy Spirit affirm your generous heart and bless you with a wonderful sense of peace as you reach out to people who have yet to hear.

For Christ and His Kingdom,

Jim Green, Executive Director
The JESUS Film Project

PS. I am in awe how He uses committed teams together with your intercession and giving to transform lives, even a suicide bomber in the toughest of places. Film teams, partners and volunteers need 1,000,000 DVDs and other tools, at a cost of $4,103,775. So however you feel led to help, thank you! Because many of these requests are immediate, I will be grateful if you can give a gift today. You can also give your gift via credit card by calling (800) 387-4040. Thank you so much.
