Dear Friend of Jesus Film Project,
What a wonderful report! All the glory goes to Him!
For your intercession and giving that makes these things possible, thank you.
A film team had gone into a village of West Asia—an area where it was difficult to share the gospel. Film teams and evangelists who work here often face stiff opposition and resistance. So you can imagine the confusion this team likely felt when a strange thing happened...
...and then their surprise.
As they were setting up the projection equipment, people began arriving, asking: “Where is the man? Where is the One who calls Himself Isa? We have come to meet Him.” (“Isa” is the great prophet mentioned in their religious book.)
The film team tried to explain: “He is not {physically} here. But He is in the movie we are about to show you. You are at the right place!”
One person was insistent, saying: “But He appeared to us last night. My niece was lame and Isa healed her.” The man turned and pointed, “There she is. She {walked} with me.”
“And this is my uncle. He was deaf and Isa touched him. Now my uncle can hear!
“Isa told us, ‘Come here tonight because here you will meet Me.’ So we want to meet Him!”
Realizing that something wondrous had happened, the team thoughtfully replied, “Yes, you are about to meet Him. Please sit down and watch.”
They started the projector. The scene where John was baptizing his disciples in the Jordan came on the screen. A man approaches John walking through the crowd. You only see his back, then his feet moving through the water.
The next scene reveals His face. It’s Jesus. Instantly, the people jumped up and started screaming and shouting, “That’s Him! That’s Him! That’s the man who came to our village last night!!”*
They could hardly contain themselves with excitement. They were meeting the healer who had come to them where they lived. The once-deaf man heard Jesus speak the Word of God, in his heart language. The lame niece watched Him heal others, just as He had touched her.
They watched as Jesus sacrificed everything, including His life, and then raised again so they might be forgiven and made new. And as they heard the Word, they met Him in their hearts.
Let me take you now to a completely different place where people are also meeting Jesus—in this case, on a bus.
Sitting on a bench was a ministry volunteer, Arit. He and his fellow travelers were enduring an eight-hour ride. Arit had been entrusted with a video tablet for his ministry (which your gifts provided). He was sitting between a woman and a man. Through conversation, he learned the woman was already a believer and she had seen JESUS but was not walking with the Lord.
He invited her to watch Walking With Jesus on his video tablet. It’s a follow-up series for new believers. She was transfixed and as the miles went by, she watched all five episodes. She rededicated her life to the Lord.
Arit next turned to talk to the man, who followed that country’s dominant religion. He agreed to view JESUS on the video tablet. There, in the safety and privacy of their seats on a bus, he met Jesus and also heard the Word of God. The Holy Spirit moved in his heart. When JESUS finished, He gave his life to Christ. Although they are not able to meet in person, Arit follows up with the man by phone.
Because of you, people are also meeting Jesus at the southern ports of Spain and France. Every summer volunteers for “Operation Transit” give out thousands of Christian packets to people from North Africa. They go from car to car as hundreds of vehicles wait in line to board the ferries. Each packet contains a DVD of JESUS and/or Magdalena (the adaptation of JESUS for women), a New Testament and other Christian materials for adults and children..
One man received a packet and told the volunteer, “I have wanted one of these for a long time. A friend asked me to buy {a DVD of JESUS} for him. Can I have one for him and for me?”
Volunteers at last year’s Operation Transit tell of people anxiously sitting down to talk about Jesus...people’s eyes lighting up as they listen to the gospel. Others come to tears as they realize that Jesus is the God of love, and take the DVDs to their families back home. One volunteer, who had introduced a couple to Jesus described them as “exploding with joy” after they placed their trust in Christ. Others have told the volunteers of seeing a man in brilliant white. They want to know who He is! They too want to meet Him. Then through JESUS, they do!
May He alone receive the glory! There is truly a spiritual hunger that is growing. Staff members, workers and volunteers often discover that He has gone before them, as Jesus did in that village. So often, all a seeker needs is to be offered JESUS in their heart language, or through some of the new showing tools described on the next page.
I write because He has brought to us, to His church opportunities we’ve never seen in our lifetime! May we be faithful to seize them, to introduce each person to Jesus.
We have important, critical requests for these various tools that powerfully present Christ: 33,000 DVDs for this summer’s Operation Transit, 25,000 DVDs for distributions in Egypt, and 4,000 for Jordan and tens of thousands of DVDs needed for refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and other locations (many refugees actually have access to a DVD player). Plus, I just learned that staff are requesting 5,000 JESUS DVDs for Ecuador, to reach the many thousands of families displaced by the April 16 earthquake (see enclosed flyer for details).
There are growing needs for micro SD cards (for use in more dangerous locations), for DVD and SD card mass duplicators, video tablets and thumb drives, as well as funding for broadcasting JESUS in more than 1,360 languages through the Internet (live streaming).
Please see the chart below, listing several of these urgently requested tools. Here you will find ways you can give men, women and children the gospel for the first time in their lives, in their heart language. Please prayerfully look it over, and as He enables and leads your heart, send a gift so more people can meet Jesus.
$108 —24 DVDs of JESUS and other Jesus films for up to 32 people each.
$225 to equip workers and volunteers with 50 DVDs.
$965 to send 40 new life thumb drives.
$650 to give 1,250 people JESUS and other films over the Internet.
$500 to send 25 SD memory cards containing Jesus films.
$2,360 — DVD mass duplicator set.
$380 to send a video tablet (like an iPad®).
$2,520 to equip workers with 560 DVDs.
$1,520 to provide four video tablets.
$3,610 to send a SD card mass duplicator set.
Thank you for your prayers and generous partnership. It is our joy to serve our Lord alongside you. Please pray for workers and lay evangelists in difficult nations, where these highly effective tools are especially needed...where millions of people are seeking Truth, ready to meet Jesus.
May God bless you for helping.
Until Everyone Sees Jesus,
Erick Schenkel
Executive Director
P.S. People from difficult nations are being driven away from their beliefs by the atrocities of ISIS and other radicals. Now God is calling seekers among them to Himself, sometimes appearing and healing, or inviting through a vision, saying, “Come and meet me.” As the Holy Spirit raises up more workers, especially in these dangerous nations, they are asking for these small but very powerful tools. They speak of an amazing openness to learn about Jesus, urging us to do all we can, saying that “now is the time to reach them.” Because many of the requests are urgent, I ask you to act quickly as you are able, and if possible to send your gift by June 30, 2016. You can send your gift safely and quickly here or by calling (800) 387-4040. To make a tax-wise stock or IRA Rollover gift, call Ben Grames or Debbie Williams at 888-278-7233, or simply email them at: stock@jesusfilm.org. Thank you very much.
* I don’t want to suggest that the actor who portrayed Jesus actually looked like Jesus historically. Rather, sometimes God appears to people in such a way that when they watch the film, they recognize Jesus.
