Follow-Up Videos for New Believers--Powerful New Tools to Ensure Lasting Results

A new tool for follow-through evangelism was completed in 2007. The greater-than-hoped-for-results compel us to look to the future in 2008 and well beyond to the harvest! The JESUS Film Project, in conjunction with India Campus Crusade for Christ, has produced a follow-up video series, specifically tailored to reach rural, oral societies and villages.

Using dramatized storytelling, incorporating scenes from "JESUS," Following JESUS shows new believers how to grow as disciples. Over the course of 25 weeks, new believers who first responded at a "JESUS" film showing systematically met, watched the videos, listened to Scripture, and discussed and prayed about the biblical principles. They were grounded in their faith with sound doctrine. The results? In one initial test, staff members reported that through this joint follow-up ministry, working with Faith Comes by Hearing, they saw up to a 400 percent increase in the number of baptisms and believers who became members at local churches! New believers were then encouraged to continue in their group study and worship, reading or listening to Scripture.

Staff members have translated the series into 10 Indian languages. In 2008 they hope to complete additional translations, all 18 national languages--then utilize the series throughout India. Following JESUS is proving to be an effective supplement for the work of "JESUS" film teams and support follow-through evangelism.

A similar follow-up video project is underway in Africa, to be filmed and produced in 2008 and 2009.
