Michael & Lilit Poghosyan

#2822119

OUR  STORY

Michael. I was born and raised in an atheist and communist society. I was taught atheism for 10 years at school, 2 years in the army, and 5 years at university. In general, my opinion of Christians was that they were undeveloped, illiterate, and inept people who had no choice but to choose that way of life. One of my classmates was a Christian and I often visited their home. His parents were very caring towards me, which I was very attracted to. His mother was always talking about God and even though I didn't understand anything, I listened to her out of politeness. Then I learned that our Russian language teacher was also a believer. I was in shock because she was an outstanding teacher and a very good person and I loved her very much. She was not the type of person to blindly follow something without understanding. I thought, if she believed, then there was something serious about her religion, and I started looking for places where they talked about God and I started reading the Bible. It was then that my younger brother accepted Jesus and started attending church meetings. His life began to change so quickly and so obviously that I couldn't understand what was happening. It made me read the New Testament (already in modern Armenian) so that I could come out victorious when debating. It was then that the secrets of the Bible began to be revealed to me and I found what I had been looking for all my life. The Bible changed my worldview, my attitude about various things, and my entire value system, and one day I decided to dedicate my life to Jesus. The more I got to know Jesus, the more I understood the great work He did on the cross, and my heart was filled with hope, faith, and love. I started attending the evangelical church in our city and there I met a beautiful girl who was still a student. I felt in my heart that she was my future wife. We got married six years after she graduated․

Lilit. I was born into a God-fearing family. My parents kept all the church traditions but never knew Jesus personally and never told my brother and me about Jesus and what he did for us. When I was in 6th grade, one of my teachers told us that there is no God and that it is only in people's imagination. I respected that teacher very much and the words he said were an authority for me. Hearing this, I decided not to even say the word God anymore, because if there is no God, then the word loses its meaning. But that decision didn't fill my soul's thirst, fill my loneliness, and satisfy my need to be loved. When I was in the 9th grade, I began to worry about the fear of death. I thought if one day I should die and become nothing, what is the meaning of my life, why was I born and what is the sense of living? Despair was so deep that I didn't even want to choose a profession or have any goals for the future. At that time, my mother had started attending the church in our city and accepted Jesus into her life. She told me about Jesus, who He was, why He came into the world, what He had done for me, and how I can receive Him into my life. I invited Jesus into my heart and surrendered my life completely to Him. From that moment on, my life began to change. I realized that I would not die and disappear but would live forever with Jesus. My life became meaningful and I began to enjoy God's love. I realized that God cares for me and He had a plan for my life. He filled my loneliness with His sweet presence and blessed me with many brothers and sisters. And I don't even want to live without Jesus for a second.

We got married in 1999 and we were both involved in church ministries. During the 15 years of our marriage, we always longed to have children, but we always heard from the doctors that it was impossible, in 2014, God gave us two miraculous babies at once, Samuel (God listens) and Sarah. Seeing them every day, we are very grateful to God for His gifts.

OUR CALLING

After graduating from the institute, I worked at the machine-building factory in Hrazdan. I had a high position and earned quite well. And since the director of the factory was the brother of the president of Armenia, it was working at full speed. In 1997 the director died of a heart attack, and 2 years later the factory was closed. I no longer had a source of income and I was looking for a job, I had to sell my car. The following year my father died. I was helping one of my friends who was a home repairer, and that's how I made a living. In my heart there was a cry to God, WHY? Why is all this happening to me, where was I and where did I end up? At that time, a teacher came to our church and taught about the Apostles and prophets. During the prayer, the same cry was in my heart and I was praying - Lord, is there a prophet in Armenia that I should go and ask why I appeared here? Suddenly that teacher stopped the prayer and said--There is someone in this room who is praying and asking “Why all this is happening to me, where was I, and where did I find myself”. I don't know who you are but listen to God's answer- I have called you not only for this city but also for a greater ministry and I have provided all the conditions so that when I call you, you will not reject me. I understood that those words were for me, but in any case, I said in my heart, Lord, please don't be angry, but if possible, confirm with one more sign, and that teacher told me to close this prayer and I was convinced that all this was directed at me. After finishing the prayer, three people from our church approached me and said as a confirmation that this prophecy was for me.

After 3 weeks, in 2002, God called us to join the movement as full-time staff. Now I lead the Global Church Movement ministry, and Lilit is the financial manager and accountant of the organization.

1. To have a right relationship with God and people all the time,

2. To be more effective and fruitful in our ministry,

3. To fill the financial gap so that we can continue our ministry.
