What does our neighborhood need most? 42% of the neighbors we surveyed this spring responded, "Programs for Kids." Their responses have included comments like, "Give the kids something positive and safe to do."
Brent* agrees! He's one of five children in a family whose parents work long hours. When the kids come home from school, they are stuck in the house with "nothing to do." They can't go outside to play because their parents don't think it's safe. Brent knows that the summer will be even worse - they'll be stuck inside ALL DAY!
When we told Brent about Cru's Summer Day Camp he got excited! He said, "I'm gonna tell my parents about this. Will you come back and talk to them?"
YES! Summer Day Camp registration is underway and we're reaching out to Brent's parents and families all over our neighborhood whose kids don't want to be stuck in the house. We want to provide parents a safe and fun place to send their children while giving them an opportunity to hear the good news of the gospel.
Summer Day Camp begins June 27th. Sixty kids will enjoy a healthy lunch and snacks, organized gym games and field trips. Each week, different arts will stimulate their minds. They will be introduced to various genres of music, learn visual art techniques, and use their creative muscles to make memorable crafts.
Our theme this year is Go 100. Campers will meet Jesus as their Savior and friend, and they'll learn to love Him with ALL their heart, soul, and mind (Matt. 22:37). As they study the Bible, sing songs, and memorize scripture their lives will be impacted for eternity!
We also use Summer Day Camp to intentionally develop local leaders. We've hired almost 20 teens and young adults from the community and surrounding area to lead our campers. We pray their training and development will be a life-changing experience that will grow them to bless their families, communities, and schools immediately and for years to come.
Summer Day Camp is a group effort. Cru partners with local churches, volunteers, and friends like you to make this life-changing experience possible. You can help in two ways. First, pray that children's hearts will be open to the good news.
Secondly, you can partner with us through a generous financial gift. Our goal of $28,000 will provide all the staffing and program elements for three weeks of dynamic, gospel-centered Summer Day Camp for all 60 of our registered campers in the safety of our Agape Center. We don't want money to prevent our neighbors from enrolling their children. Your partnership allows us to offer this life-giving program at a minimal cost.
Would you consider a gift of $1,000, $500, $250 ... or some other amount? Right now your gift will be matched up to $10,000, doubling your impact!
Together we can show God's love to children in Chicago this summer and give them an opportunity to Go 100 at following Jesus. We pray you will meet many of them in heaven!
