Andy and Sherri Armstrong

How would you influence the most significant “spiritual real estate” in the world?

According to the Milken Institute, 39% of the world’s population holds a college degree.  And they are the ones who make the big decisions, who make breakthroughs, who make bigger impacts and change history.

God has called us to be a leadership engine for the body of Christ.  Cru can help you connect the students of the world to Christ, engage young people in life-changing discipleship and send leaders to expand God’s Kingdom around the world.

You are essential and central to the mission of developing leaders, tools and resources for God’s Kingdom.

Come join a caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ.

We work in the Campus Ministry (University and High School students and faculty) from the Boulder, Colorado field office.  We are Missionaries Who Keep Missionaries On Mission. We serve as part of the pit crew for our field staff, helping to enable maximum engagement with students and faculty.

Andy currently serves on the People & Culture team as the People Services Coordinator:

  • Our desire is that Cru would be the very best place for people to serve as missionaries.  That means that we would continue to create an environment that focuses on healthy people, serving our staff through a variety of means that enable them to effectively fulfill their calling, grow as individuals and in community, and always increasing our capacity to help fulfill the Great Commission.

Other roles include...

  • Giving national leadership to the issue of Sexual Wholeness within the Campus Ministry
  • Office systems and Office management for the Boulder Office

Sherri  is currently a Cru Affiliate, advising and coaching in the area of Global Missions finances and operations.

OUR STORY

Andy came to Christ through a fellow member of the football team during his sophomore year at the University of Colorado. Over the next 3 years he became involved in the Cru ministry at CU. Through sharing his faith with others on the football team, becoming involved in Cru student leadership, and going on summer mission projects, Andy saw that God could use even him.

Though Sherri came to Christ at the age of 7, she was first exposed to dynamic Christianity at San Jose State University. She saw God use her in many ways through leading Bible studies in the dorms, sharing her faith, summer missions and being part of the Cru student leadership.

Andy and Sherri met on a Cru summer mission and then got married after graduation. They joined the staff of Cru in 1982 and served at UC Berkeley. In the fall of 1985, Andy took the position of Ministry Director at California State University, Chico, where he and Sherri served until 2005.

A TEAM APPROACH

Since 1982, people like you have been making our ministry possible. Because no central funds exist within the ministry for paying staff salaries, raising our financial support has been both our responsibility and privilege. We do this by contacting individuals whom we feel may have a similar interest is seeing young people reached for Christ. Many of these choose to become our ministry partners. They pray for us, invest financially in our ministry, and, through us, have an impact on the college campus and the world. Ten to twelve times a year we send a prayer letter to our ministry partners to keep them updated about what God is doing in the lives of college students.

VISION

The late Robert C. Goizueta, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Coca-Cola, was a man of vision. On February 17, 1994, he wrote this in his report to stockholders:

"All of us in the Coca-Cola family wake up each morning knowing that every single one of the world's 5.6 billion people will get thirsty that day...and we are the ones with the best opportunity to refresh them. Our task is simple: make Coca-Cola and our other products available, affordable and acceptable to them, quenching their thirst and providing them a perfect moment of relaxation. If we do this...if we make it impossible for these 5.6 billion people to escape Coca-Cola...then we assure our future success for many years to come. Doing anything else is not an option."

Those in the Coca-Cola family are aware of two things. First, that everyone will get thirsty today, and second, that Coca-Cola wants to be in the best possible position for each of these people to have their thirst quenched with a Coke. To do this is to accomplish their mission. They can't force people to buy or drink Coke, but they can put themselves in a place where Coke is available to every thirsty person.

Cru also has a singular task. We can awake every morning knowing that most, if not all, of the world's college students will be spiritually thirsty at some time during their college career, many thirstier during these years than at any other time in their lives, and we want to be in the best possible position to offer them "living water" to refresh them and give them life. We can't force students to hear the gospel or trust in Christ, but we are asking God to put us in a place where the gospel is available to every spiritually thirsty person, whenever that thirst might come. Doing anything else is not an option.
