We love watching Jesus change lives! As students at the University of Illinois (Bruce) and Texas Wesleyan University (Julie), God used the ministry of Cru to transform our lives and give us a vision for how He could use us to help change the world. By the time we graduated from college, we both knew He was calling us to share the love of Christ by becoming staff members with Cru.
In 1982, we began what was to become a 35-year adventure, performing with evangelistic bands, including our family band and our boys' band, 3union. We witnessed God use our concerts to encounter thousands of lives around the world with the Good News of the Gospel! 14 years into that adventure, the Lord blessed us by unexpectedly expanding our scope. Not only were we able to continue our music ministry, but we were invited to become part of the speaker team for FamilyLife’s Weekend To Remember marriage conferences. Those events quickly became a passion area for both of us and we are now entering our 28th year serving on the team. We’ve seen the Holy Spirit restore countless marriages and witnessed tens of thousands of couples surrender their lives and families to Christ!
In 2021, Julie and I stepped into another significant role as Regional Development Representatives with the Jesus Film Project. Over its 45-year history, The Jesus Film has become the premier tool for world evangelization with nearly 2200 language translations of the film completed and 1800+ missionary partner organizations utilizing its resources worldwide. This past year alone, over 767,711,625 people viewed JFP media with 22,357,788 million of them indicating decisions for Christ and the establishment of 223,578 new churches!
As Development Reps, we are privileged to help fuel the mission financially by working closely with current and potential major donors to the ministry - people who have a passion for reaching the unreached. We serve as Jesus Film's relational connection to these remarkable people, keeping them informed on how their investments are being utilized, introducing them to new projects as well as areas of urgent need, and helping them maximize their financial stewardship for God's glory! It's also our privilege to take them on vision trips where they can see the Jesus Film in action, witnessing God use it to change hearts and lives for eternity!
All our ministry work is made possible by an amazing team of people who share our hearts for seeing Christ transform lives. These faithful partners commit to pray for us, encourage us, and invest monthly in our ministry. They are critical to our efforts and we consider them each like family! Without our team, we wouldn't be able to fully focus our time and energy on the ministry. The return blessing is that our partners can expand their impact for Christ far beyond their normal circles of influence. Together, we are helping accelerate the fulfillment of Christ's Great Commission and hastening the return of Jesus!
