My connection to Cru stretches back to elementary school.

  • My parents came into a relationship with Jesus through the influence of Cru staff. As a result, we joined a Bible teaching church where I became a follower of Jesus.
  • In middle school, a Cru college student discipled me.
  • At Rice University, I was a student leader in the Cru movement, growing tremendously because Cru staff challenged me and invested in me.
  • After graduating, I volunteered with Cru High School.

One night, while I was sitting on my living room sofa, I was gripped with the reality of Romans 10:14-15.

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?  And how are they to hear without someone preaching? nd how are they to preach unless they are sent?  (ESV)

So I joined staff with Cru High School to reach American students when they are most open to the gospel.

A few years later, when I took the Perspectives (www.Perspectives.org) class,  I learned that there are Unreached People Groups (UPGs), entire cultures of people across the world who, even if they wanted to learn about Jesus, have no Christian friends with whom they can engage, no church in their community to visit, no access to a Bible in their heart language.   One night, while I was sitting in the class, I strongly sensed God directing me to work with UPG.

Eventually I joined StoryRunners, the oral Bible storying ministry of Cru which focuses on reaching oral learners in UPGs.  I help mobilize other followers of Jesus to be a part of expanding God’s kingdom as well as working directly with UPGs so that oral learners across the world can hear the gospel in their heart language.
