Tyler Jensen

#0684954

When I graduated high school four years ago I was planning on joining the Navy; however, due to medical issues I was disqualified. Upset and confused I did not know what I wanted to do after high school besides the Navy, and I ended up studying biochemistry at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Little did I know that God was using this experience to bring me to have a closer relationship with Him.

During my sophomore year, I met students and staff members involved in a Christian mission organization called Cru. Through them I came to understand what it meant to trust Jesus Christ as my Savior. As I grew in my relationship with the Lord, God challenged me to go on several summer mission trips in North Dakota and in Arusha, Tanzania. It was on these mission trips that God started to change my heart for missions.

In August 2015, I embarked for nine months as part of the first STINT team Cru sent to Tanzania. Over those nine months I learned more of what it meant to truly depend on the Lord, and had the opportunity to be a part of His work in Arusha. While we were there God led us to three exceedingly different schools: Mt. Meru University (MMU), Kiranyi Secondary School, and Braeburn International Secondary School. During our time there we did traditional walk up evangelism at MMU, taught various subjects and hosted an after school club at Kiranyi, and established a bible study at Braeburn.

As our time was drawing to a close in Tanzania, God used the church and the Bible to encourage me to step out in faith once again and to join Him in His work in Arusha. So in August I will be departing with five others for ten months to continue with His ministry there.
