After graduating from James Madison University with a degree in Hospitality Management, I did not in my wildest dreams, expect to be co-leading an office internship program. After interning in the program twice (once with Jesus Film and once with the conference team), I joined staff with the conference team. After that, God led me to work with Maze for a year before bringing me to work with the Cru Headquarter's Internship Team.
Our program recruits and intentionally develops a diverse group of interns spiritually, professionally, and personally; equipping them to build Cru's capacity to engage the mission as they use their skills and abilities as lifelong Christ-centered multiplying disciples.
Spiritual Development takes place through their individual involvement with the local churches. We also require our interns to take part in Core Training, which covers a wide range of topics from starting movements to racial reconciliation. Our program partners with several local Cru ministry movements to give our interns weekly field experience.
Professional Development occurs through their role at headquarters. Our interns work under teams that are led by quality team leaders and supervisors who excel at their work. Our interns consistently give feedback that they are able to experience more and are given more responsibilities than they imagined. Our interns fulfill critical need roles that are making huge impacts for the kingdom of God.
Personal Development for each our interns is seen through their overall internship experience. They have the opportunity to live together in community, experience a great work environment, Gospel-centered training, and experience growth in their personal life through their spiritual & professional development.
It is truly a blessing to be able to build up our future leaders. I'm able to use both the skills and talents that I developed at JMU as well as my relational and community building skills that God has given me. As I said at the beginning, I could not have imagined the journey that God has me on. It is truly a gift.
