In my senior year of high school, I went on my first mission trip. This trip changed me. The way I viewed the world and my personal involvement in it shifted during those 10 days. I entered college at Ball State University the following August with a strong desire to play an active part on the front lines, building God's kingdom.
I was honestly surprised by Cru as I sought out Christian community in college to substitute for those I left at home in Evansville, IN. My time in college was a time of incredible growth. I was humbled by the love and consistent reliance on God alone exhibited in the students of Cru, both from the stage at large group meetings and in daily life.
God used Cru to stretch me, equip me, and prepare me for a life of full-time Christian work. Through being discipled by a Cru staff person, I shared my faith for the first time. Through Cru Bible studies, I grew to love the freedom found in vulnerability and confessing sin to one another. Through Cru summer missions trips, I became comfortable and confident in sharing the good news of Jesus with people. Through Cru student leadership, I learned how to prepare Bible studies, organize events, disciple other students, and create life-changing community.
It was through this time in college, during which God molded me through Cru and missions trips, that He called me into full-time missionary service with Cru. I want every student to have the opportunity to grow spiritually in college in the way that I did!
My wife, Taylor, received her undergraduate degree at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and then spent 4 years in Germany in ministry. God called her back to the states to become a licensed professional counselor to serve people with trauma, anxiety, depression, and all other mental illnesses. She is such a help to me and my ministry since mental illness is a rising issue in the younger generation, and since mental and emotional health contribute to a healthy relationship with God.
After 10 years serving on the campuses of Toledo, OH and Las Cruces, NM, I am now serving as an International Sending Coordinator. In this role, I develop and shepherd thriving missionaries who can serve unhindered wherever God calls them for as long as God calls them to it. International Missionaries are flourishing, students are coming to Christ, growth is happening, and steps of faith are being taken! I am so excited for the many opportunities ahead to help reach lost people for Jesus!
I believe if we can reach the students of the universities today, then we can change the world tomorrow!
