Thank you for visiting our giving page! How about we introduce ourselves?
Myself (Jonathan or Jono) and my wife Kelsey work with Athletes in Action in Auckland New Zealand. Kelsey originally worked with Athletes in Action in the US for three years at The University of Alabama before starting her work here with Athletes in Action New Zealand. I did one year with Athletes in Action in Canada on an overseas internship before working with Athletes in Action in Auckland. We started working with Athletes in Action in NZ in January 2014.
Currently, we are the National Directors of Athletes in Action in New Zealand. Athletes in Action has two teams here in Auckland as well as a new team in Christchurch launching at the start of 2024. We reach out to both christian and non-christian athletes around New Zealand throughout the year. With christian students, we develop them in the foundations of their faith while also teaching them to reach out to those around them in their day to day life and on their sports teams. With non-christians, we support them in their sport addressing critical issues that come up in sport and come alongside them to investigate issues of faith as they are interested. We are currently running outreaches and action groups (athlete bible studies) at various locations around the country. At the end of each year, we have our Ultimate Training Camp where we teach athletes how to integrate faith and sport.
