As many are questioning their traditional religious beliefs, Cru missionaries are reporting massive interest in Christ. One report from an outreach to refugees paints the picture:
“Real miracles happen ... when [the refugees] enter, they are taken aback by our smiles and warmth ... We also put out stacks of free Bibles. Most have never seen one ... Many volunteer their cell phone numbers so they can stay in contact and hear more about Christ. A number receive Christ ...”
Since 1951, Cru has been helping to fulfill the Great Commission by winning people to faith in Jesus Christ, building them in their faith and sending them to win and build others. Today, Cru is helping to spread the gospel in more than 190 countries.
God is at work in a special way to reap extraordinary harvest.
In the Middle East, food inflation has been 350%; housing and utilities have more than doubled. In the midst of this struggle, 963 new secret churches were started last year alone.
In Ukraine, the spiritual hunger is enormous, with Cru missionaries trying to keep up with the demand among soldiers: “They have time to read and they want to [know more].”
In one closed nation, persecuted Christians are so hungry for worship and fellowship that they are going to the mountains, “far from anything,” to gather together before the Lord.

These missionaries raise their own support, but in many countries they cannot talk openly about their ministry. Many of these men and women are being surveilled and targeted, yet they bravely continue the work God has laid before them.
